National Student TV Awards

Cleveland Regional Chapter Claimed One of the Six NSTV National Winners in 2004

The National Television Academy chose six national winners of the Student Television Award for Excellence recognizing outstanding television journalism by high school students. Chosen from the pool of 88 regional NTA chapter award-winners, the 2004 National winners were presented their awards at the National Television Academy Trustees Award Dinner on June 3, 2004 in Los Angeles. The winners received their award from Norman Pearlstine, Editor-in-Chief, Time Inc. and Barry Meyer, Chairman and CEO, Warner Bros. Entertainment Inc.

The Cleveland Regional Chapter is proud to say that one of the winners was from our region. The Award for Technical Achievement went to Stephen P. Neary, a Senior from Lawrence Central High School in Indianapolis, for LC Current? Where It’s @: Caroline Hanna’s Dance Club. Stephen really appreciates that the National Television Academy takes the time to host such a contest and feels it’s an amazing opportunity for students and their advisors alike.

Assisting Stephen on the award-winning production was Ines Pacheco, also a Senior (and class Salutatorian!) at Lawrence Central High School.

The National winners were chosen by a blue ribbon panel consisting of multiple Emmy Award winners, among them are: two former executive producers of network news magazine programs; a former executive producer of an arts and entertainment magazine series; a former network news senior producer; two former network field producers; a director of network sports promotion; a network documentary producer; a network technical manager and technical director; a post-production technical director and long-form editor; a former producer of sports personality profiles; three university professors of journalism; an associate director of a university news program; and the sports director of a university news program.
